During a 3-day offshore trip, 26 anglers aboard the Pacific Queen achieved an impressive haul of 151 Bluefin Tuna.
Tackle Recommendations:
For targeting Bluefin Tuna:
- Rod: A heavy-action rod rated for 80-130 lb line, such as those offered by Phenix or Shimano.
- Reel: A high-capacity two-speed reel, like the Shimano Talica 20 II or Daiwa Saltiga 55.
- Line: 80-100 lb test braided line with a 100-130 lb fluorocarbon leader from Seaguar.
- Lures/Bait:
- Jigs: Shimano Flat-Fall jigs in 160-250g weights.
- Live Bait: Fly-lined sardines using Owner 4/0-5/0 circle hooks.
